Forum Maintenance 8th September

Postby paulsmodellingworkshop » Sun Sep 12, 2010 1:42 pm

Oh dear...just shows how much notice I took! It seems to be at the top on the 'new' system as well.......just take me outside and put one in me, make it nice and quick.

I prefered the old forum due to it showing me all the new posts on one page, I will now have to hunt through every board to see whats new.

I agree 100%. this is not workable. completely user unfriendly

Why was the forum changed anyway, there was nothing wrong with it?

Just a heads up to let you all know the forum software is going to be upgraded on the 8th September resulting a few hours downtime for the forums. This won't affect the store or the website. As you know there are some issues that need to be fixed (some don't get sent passwords, topic subscriptions are failing, etc) and this extensive software upgrade is designed to fix all these issues and hopefully also give us more functionality. If these details change I'll let you know as soon as I do.Cheers,Paul

I think the above answers your question hithero.

I at first missed seeing the new posts on the front page until I realised I could click the New/Recently Updated Topics tab top right and jump straight to each one that interested me. Wink

Ok, I have tried "Watching" a post and I have tried "Subscribing" to a post and neither have resulted in an email being sent to my inbox. Not even in my Warlord message box! So what am I not doing? I understood that the software update was suppose to deliver this service. Either I am not doing something right or it isn't working. Al

Sorry Paul et al, me too. Now that I have found this thread (see the hint Wink ) I see I am not alone. It all looks very smart but I miss the easy browsing of recent topics.Terry

Come on guys the forum tells you how many unread topics there are you click on the tab 'New/Recently Updated Topics' and there they are, in red so there easy to see. Is that really so difficult? Confused

I thought this was a temporary set-up while we got a nice new user-friendly layout!I'll give it time to get used to it, change has to happen after all, but I confess I must join the torch and pitchfork-bearing ranks for now as we advance on Castle Sawyerstein. I much preferred the old system for ease of use and a much more 'comfortable' feel. I am persevering with it however, and perhaps familiarity will make it more palatable in time.
