As far as I know they were not the much used in the ECW, atleast not that heavely armord, so is this the first of hopefully many boxes aimed more at 30YW then ECW?

Cuirassiers were popular as Lifeguards in the ECW, the armour being largely sword and pistol-proof (if not cannon or musket-proof), so they were very effective against other cavalry, which were a big threat to the mounted commanders largely safe against infantry. They weren't very rare as such, but the cost of the armour, the need for heavy horses and their role often being that of glorified bodyguards, did seriously restrict their use on the battlefield.

Were cuirassiers more common in Europe then? My knowledge of the 30YW is very hazy but if I remember correctly then the German Imperial forces had more of them than most.

"You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me, it's a full time job." – Lt. Bromhead to Prince Dabulamanzi before the Battle of Rorke's Drift.

In essence you're right - Cuirassiers were used a lot more in TYW than ECW. ECW did see them used though - Haselrig's Lobsters being probably the most prominent and of course a lot of commanders and cavalry officers still used Cuirassier armour as a badge of rank.

But in answer to Gunfreak - you're right. This is the start of us doing more stuff specifically for TYW.

We'll still be bringing you ECW stuff and things that can be used in both conflicts - the list is still very, very long!

Fairfax next...

Like the pictures very much indeed! Well done guys, they were absolutely worth waiting for. I especially like the bloke with the reversed pistol!

Looking forward to next week!

Agree with BigMike. Now let's see them on the webstore before the free postage deal expires at the end of the month. Apologies but with the amount of new stuff showing up I need to save the pennies

Regards

Paul

Do the Cuirassiers have a flag set in the box? And does it contain 30YW flags? My fingers are crossed.
