I've gone for a Swedish army too, saw the yellow troops in last month's WI and thought "I'll have some of that'. I'm tempted to go with a whole yellow army rather than have yellow, red and blue brigades, as i reckon the unified look looks better on the tabletop!

My copies to the Osprey books on Adolphus' army arrived last week from Amazon so work progresses at pace!  I'm hoping to finish the Curassiers later this week and then start working on more infantry.  I'm thinking about using the Irish brigade models as an English/Scottish mercenary regiment - apparently the export of arms from England was banned in the 17th century so troops turned up needing more or less all their equipment supplied to them when they arrived - so the ragged look would fit quite well with an un-equipped mercenary unit! (plus i like the look of the Irish brigade)

Apologies for replying to my own post.  Anyone got any ideas what kind of standard a mercenary C17th unit is likely to carry - As i said above I'm working on an English or Scottish mercenary unit fighting with the Swedish army during the1630's.  I assume they won't be issued a Swedish 'coloured' unit standard but how would they be identified?Any thoughts welcome!Ta
