Battle at Varna 10th November 1444

Postby Dalauppror » Wed May 26, 2010 6:38 am

Hi

Me and my friends have just played a Medieval game based on the Battle of Varna 10th November 1444. A Christian Alliance against the ottoman Empire. We used Black Powder and you can find the OOB, Stats and a AAR on my blog.

Thanks for the idea. I got out some 15mm DBA Medieval stands and gave it a try:

I think it worked well. I had been working on using these miniatures for WAB, but using BP means I don't have to remember another rule set.

Battle at Varna 10th November 1444

Hi
Glad to get the chanse to inspire some one:)

Nice AAR, looked like a fun game. I think BP worked realy good for the medieval seting.

Black powder are absolutely my favorite rules at the moment, I realy like the easy attitude, the possibilety to play with several players on each side (we have been 10 at one occasion and it worked fine) and conclude a big battle in 4-5 houres.

The question about the shields/armour in periods earlier than 1700 for BP... I have changed the Morale value, but only if a realy feel that the troop type are realy different from the big mass,(not just taking shields/armour in consideration but the moral and battle filed behaviour of the troop type during that specific battle)

like in our Varna game heavily armoured knights get Morale 3+. We had under consideration to give the Mercenary Knights Morale 4+ at they was mercenarys, but sins they was on a crusade at Varna we felt that they was more motivated so they alsoe got Morale 3+...heavy armour or not...

Some of the Light Horse and Foot Skirmisher wasn´t all that motivated so they got morale 5+. I hope my answer helpt...
