Horse Colours

Does anybody have any suggestions for base coat colours for my ECW horses? I'm undercoating in white and will use the Strong Tone quickshade.

I want a nice variety (not JUST brown- theres enough brown on ECW cavalry!)- please let me know which colours you have used and how well they worked.

If you're using GW paints there's a good horse painting download on the GW website, covers a load of basics and some detailing.

The blacks and greys come out really nicely!

I've just realised that my question sounds really dumb! Any ideas for horse colours? Pink, green? Thanks for not making fun of me…

Thanks for that- looks like a good article- interesting stuff regarding the different patterns n stuff. I use mainly GW or foundry paints- I could do with finding 4 or 5 basic colours and get a production line going- I have a lot of horses to paint!!

Right, I've sorted a good scheme for black (Dark grey with a black wash- looks ok with the dip), and light grey, but I can't seem to find a brown I'm happy with. I reckon two types of brown should be enough- a light and dark.

Brown recommendations anyone? :)

GW paints Scorched base with calthan and bestial as final highlights, and i'd wash in sepia watered down devlan mud.

For greys Adeptus battlegrey followed by codex works well
