Cathage...scourge of rome

Any possibility that Warlord Games ever thinks of the scourge of rome as in plastic I mean...plastic warelephants-mercenary hoplites-runaway slaves-gladiators...a nice bunch for collecting an army...wouldent you agree?

And ofcourse...Ancient British we have...Germans we will have...Ancient Belgians perhaps?

You know what I imagine when I think about your HQ, Paul? An OSS style operations room with Elvine craftsmen.

It would be great if that was to happen as I intend to collect a 3500 pt WAB Carthaginian army by November.

However from Warlords point of view this would be a new project to start from scratch because apart from the celts that can be used as Guals , there are no existing figures within the ranges they do that could be adopted. The Romans for example are vastley different to Punic War Romans that would be required.

Well for Carthaginians you will need:

African mecenaries (some equipped with captured Roman equipment, so R. Roman legionaries would do)

Gauls (got those, check)

Spanish (also fought for the Romans)

Italiian allies (also fought for the Romans)

Elephants - but I don't see these coming any time soon, too few to be sold to be worth making in plastic.

I loved the 2nd Punic war. Interesting battles and armies where troops can be switched to either side or indeed used as the building blocks to other armies.

Just been working on my Carthaginian army which is 3500plus.

This army really excites me when I am working on it as it is so varied.

Just completed my first unit which is my Oscan Hopelites which is going to be my lynch pin centre unit.

What I like about this army apart from the variety of troops is because a lot is unknown in particular the colouration etc there is a lot of room for artistic licence and is a kin to painting a fantasy army.

For a bit of variety I have bought a Wargames Warhouse pack of celts for use as spares and have used some of their torsos with both the Warlord Celts and cavalry. I havre also bought a Warlord British tribe pack and for the extra £3.00 is well worth it for all the extra metal shields,chieftan and heads.

there is a lengthy list of miniatures i would like to see produced by warlord. right up at the tippy top is line of punic miniatures, like a full range as complete as the roman/celt series is. a proper carthage army would be ideal, since the whole army is practically mercenaries the minis would be quite useful for almost any ancient army. a plastic war elephant would sell better than people think, or make the elephant a resin cast for special orders.
