Well folks, the going is a bit slow at the moment what with being back at work and waiting for orders to arrive (damn Christmas post and bank holidays!) When that arrives I will have a total of 40 Legionaries, a scorpion, two officers (one mounted "Hold The Line" and one making a blood sacrifice) plus working on a diorama for the second officer which will include a couple of his senior staff (signifier, primus pilus etc). Oh, and the Macro and Cato diorama too.
If thats not enought to be keeping busy with, I've also just ordered some Legionary slingers, 2 sprues of Auxilaries to add a bit of variety in the Centuries armour and a Primus Pilus to lead my Century too as his pose is a bit more in your face. Didn't really like the static pose of my current Centurion - looks like he's directing traffic in Rome
But before any of that arrives, I need to get some plastic glue as I've run out and using superglue on fiddly little bits like greaves is a Royal pain the the posterior!

And I've somehow got to find time to paint 5 superhuman Damned Legionaries for a painting challenge on another forum. They are for a sci-fi game set in the grim darkness of the far future ................................... ;)

Guess what arrived in todays post - a load of Romans! Woo-hoo! :D

Unfortunately, there was a mishapen sprue in the box of Legionaries :( The standard is in 2 pieces and severly lacking in detail and the Centurions gladius is more like a toothpick!

However, one email to Wayland Games later and they are sending me out replacement sprues! Hip hip hooray! :D And they don't want the faulty sprue back so I end up with some extra Romans!
I am one very happy bunny today

That looks like a wonderful haul Dan! I really like the look of the Marco and Cato set, be a great cabinet piece. WG are great for sorting problems out quickly in my experience. My ancient Britons were lacking the extra metal shields, and even though they were bought from a shop, not warlord directly one email later and WG had dispatched the missing items! Can't wait to see progress ont hese Dan.

Theres some nice looking ones on the Legionary sprue and I was planning on mixing the different helmets within the Century anyway. It makes sense to me that Legionaries would replace broken and damaged equipment with pieces from dead and injured Legionaries so there would be quite a mix.

Going to go to my local Hobbycraft this weekend and see if they are stocking any of the Warlord range. Also need to pick up some decent plastic glue - mines gone thick and gloopy

Yep, for that seasoned campaign look it is a good idea to mix and match equipment.

Awesome!!!!

Gotta love that feeling when new minis show up!

And I got that feeling twice in 2 days!

The Scorpion is glued together and based (left the 2 Legionaries loose so I could paint them more easily). The slingers are also glued together and based - got them in a loose formation so they have plenty of room to swing those slings! I've also based my mounted general, done the Macro and Cato diorama and also done about half a dozen Legionaries for the Century.
My Century currently stands at 34 Legionaries, 8 slingers and one Scorpion. I've still got another 20 Legionaries on the sprue to build and then somehow find the time to bubild this little lot.

It's all fun and games!

It's like Christmas all over again!!!!!!
I like to mix up the kit too for a less uniform look, I'd also add that you might want to look in the shop for additional head sets (in metal but work very well with a blob of superglue).....there are some other variations on a legionary helmet in the shop which make a big difference to the look of the unit...and also for some Tribune converions use the Attic helmet pack on centurion body!......I feel a third order coming on!!!
