Order of Combat Engagement Resoultion & Support

Assume I have two units side by side within 3" of each other, but not touching, each engaged with an enemy unit in hand to hand combat.

Unit A's engagement is resolved first and it forces its opponent to retire.

When Unit B's engagement is resolved can Unit A add support to Unit B?

Yes, as long as unit A does not move forward of unit B, it will be in a position to count as support to the next combat to be resolved.
