Can a unit that fails a charges shoot in fire phase?

Postby Ken Portner » Sun Jun 10, 2012 9:58 pm

Say I have a unit of musketeers try to move to contact and it receives closing fire, becomes shaken, and get's a hold ground result or retire result.

Can that unit shoot in the ensuing fire phase?

I couldn't find anything in the rules prohibiting it.

Thanks.

If the break test result is "Hold Ground" result the unit fights the combat with the modifiers for being shaken. This is because closing fire is worked out when the charging unit has been moved to contact with the firing unit.

If the Break Test result is "Retire", then yes, the unit is moved back the distance required and can fire in the shooting phase.
