I'll stick to Vallejo Model and Game colour at £1.79 each thanks. GW loses the plot more and more on a daily basis....

I may have to get a couple of GW paints just for the pots. Mind you, if they still sell their empty pots too, or there's anyone kind enough to send me their old pots ...

Just tried 'Imperial Primer'...You would probably be better off using Chaos Black IMO, or whatever it is now...probably or spraying!

Oh well I thought I would give brush-on Primer a try :(

Bought Agrax Earthshade the alleged replacement for Devlan Mud... but Devlan Mud it is not!

The colour is not quite as dark as Devlan and it doesn't pool into the recesses in the same way, I was pretty underwhelmed.
Also beware, if you don't shake thoroughly you can get a white tide mark!

Has anyone used the new Army Painter washes.. I have heard the dark tone is similar to Devlan Mud.

An online friend recommended the AP washes, I think I'll give them a try when next I need a wash.

I've bought the new Army Painter washes the other day and tested them yesterday. Strong Tone is quite similar to Devlan Mud and a good substitute while Dark Tone is my new Badab Black.

Gentlemen, my humble two cents on this topic:

Like alot of people I started out with GW paint back when it was made by Coat D'arms. Soon after they switch to an inferior paint and hike the price, I no longer support their endeaver.

My problem about GW's paint is not the fact they raised the price, but if raising the price is necessary, you got to back it up with quality products.

If the £333 price tag will give me a set of paint to improve my work, I would be the first to make the purchase. However, I remain skeptical viewing GW's track of history.

Plus I don't use the traid, wash, drybrushing, nor dip. So it is not a big factor for me.

There are much better quality hobby paint out there, Vallejo, Coat D'arms, Reaper just to name a few.

Vallejo's modeling color is much better than their gaming line because there are more pigmentation in it. However, Vallejo also have its own flaws such as some of the colors are inconsistancy with mixture or dries too quickly.

Reaper Master series is for artists who use the wet blending method because its retarder property. I don't recommand for artists who are into heavy lining and blocking... your finished paint will crack.

I hope I did not step on anyone's toe regarding to my candid observation and years of using these products. I sincerely wish the newline of GW paint is a quality one thus not disappoint their loyal followers.

I tried AP Strong Tone Ink as an alternative to Devlan Mud but it wasn't as good. I've not yet run out of my pot of DM to try AE yet but if it isn't to the same standard then the quality of my painting will quickly deteriorate lol.

Vallejo Sepia dip (#73300) works well for me with terrain but I have not tried it on figures. I have tried Delvian Mud and did not like it, for what I was doing the Vallejo worked better. Previously I had used the oil washes from Mig Productions but they are oil based and are not as user friendly as the Vallejo.

Wait... when I first read your post quickly, I thought it said "... I have not tried it on fingers."
