celtic roundhouse WIP

Postby carvel2 » Mon Feb 20, 2012 11:44 pm

After getting all worked up about a celtic village here's my chieften's gaff in its early stages,
Image back door.
Image front door.
The rough and ready cutting and sticking is to be hidden by the towelling thatch.
Timber door frames tomorrow night...maybe :D

God bless Nescafe ! :D
the top of the drum could be used if you wanted to be able to lift off the roundhouse and reveal a hidden inside????

It's certainly coming along.........and you seem to have a taste for coffee ;)
I'm assuming the rank and file will live in pringle tubes ;)

Looking forward to seeing the next stage.

Just out of interest, and hopefully useful to everyone making round houses, I live near this

Very useful for the study of roundhouses etc... I'll likely pop along on their Roman day
It's a fascinating place.

Carvel how big is your Celtic Village going to be?

Carvel......you need to be sitting down for this......it would be a huge mistake for Any Romans to go within 200 miles of that particular Village ;)

The woodwork is now stuck on and the towel roof.
tried something different with the application of the PVA glue to the towelling.
Wet the towel first so as to allow an easier application of the pva, paint water mix...seems to have worked much better.
There are no bits missed 'under 'the lay of the threads.
Just popped her in the oven to dry off...always in a rush!
Sadly no pictures...my card reader broke :(
