Re: WW2 terrain

I think what made me chose these mini's was the fact that they had a bit more range of troops like the machine gun, mortar etc...

Quick Update for you all:

WW2 terrain Update

Postby Drumstick » Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:52 pm

Right I've got the main piece now painted up and finished. I'm probably going to add more fancy bits now perhaps like barbed wire, camo net and some barrels/ammo stacks. Tell me what you folks think anyway.

Looks very nice, fit to grace the very finest of tables.

Coming along very nicely indeed :D

Got an update on the models folks - sorry for being so inactive of recent months but I've been terrible busy with prelims, exams, uni interviews, studying and other terrible aspects of real life! :lol: Anywhoo I got some progress on my WW2 German airborne models so I thought I should show a face & post my work. I'm going to redo all the eyes as I was in a bit of a rush to finish them off and they look rather weird. The 2p bases worked a charm and sorry for the bad lighting in the pictures - should have taken some more time to get better lighting. I also found a spare moment to work on that camouflage net we talked about (yes I do realize that was AGES ago) but I think it's a little too high? What cha think? The material I used is actually the netting from oranges, which isn't a bad fit. I'm hoping to get myself a Tiger tank off the site and get some more painting (+ terrain) done. ;)

Not to worry tufts have been used, as I know this forum seems to be a massive fan of them. :lol:

P.S. On a side note, I've done some work on the Roman fort too

Just been watching Band of Brothers and EZ company were assaulting a battery of dug in German artillery pieces along a treeline. The camo netting was a lot lower down on each of the emplacements - try cutting off half an inch or so off each of the legs.

@Centurion: Right will do - that's a fantastic scene in the film/series by the way.
@mikeland: Cheers matey

I've started on a new project to build a 28mm french, destroyed house. I've just cut out the foam so haven't got far but I've tried a new method for the bricks - only I'm going to make the bricks themselves quite a bit smaller. I was struggling with getting the colors right, I'm not sure if they look too light or just not realistic.. Any idea's or help would be most helpful. Also tried to get the effect of a tank shell hitting the building, worked out not too bad.

Great idea using the orange netting by the way - mine usually just gets thrown out in the rubbish!
