Thanks Colonel Yes im working on a 3 inch width and sections are a foot long.I actually stumbled upon the cork tiles in a cheap shop.$8.00 AU for a pack of 5 tiles.Initially i used them to build a house for wargaming then from advise here i thought i'd give roads a crack. You have to seal the sections first with a good coat of PVA glue with about 30% water.I left that to dry overnight and commenced with the topping.I used beach sand which i had dried in the oven on foil, then sifted out all the debris. There is also a small amount of road side gravel added for the bigger stone effect. I trowelled the mixed paste on using an old tea spoon to get the surface even. Then as already mentioned allowed to dry for a full 24 hours before making any imprints and a further 24 hours later worken on the surface with a toy car of what i thought to be the right diameter and proceded to make it look like a well used road.
Cheers Marcus T
