Starting Hail Caesar

Postby canadasteve » Tue Feb 28, 2012 7:53 pm

OK Guys, birthday next week and have asked for Hail Caesar and some figures. Got some spare cash to so gonna buy the £50 Celt horde for my mate to use against my Roman starter set. Is this enough to be going on with, will there be enough to start getting to grips with the rules ? I know I want more models and he willwant the chariots !! LOL
Cheers

It should be enough for you to get started with a small game. You will want to expand, but if you play a little canny with the models you'll be able to eke them out into an additional unit or two. You can bulk out the units later and add more too. You will need tow or three commander figures to add to your sets because these aren't included in the starters.

Cheers Al. The Celts comes with three chieftans and a standard bearer, do I need more for them to start with ? Also what base sizes are needed for this as I have GW movement trays ready and waiting ?

Thanks again guys.
Cheers

The GW trays should be fine. Basing is up to you. The standard seems to be 20x20mm per figure. I base mine 4 figures to a 40x40mm base for ease of movement and a reasonable amount of flexibility and 6 bases to a unit. Skirmishers I base on individual bases. Cavalry use GW style bases as well, 25x50mm, and I base mine in pairs on a base. Chariots are on 80x50mm or whatever fits. Rick posted a list of sizes here

Enjoy! :D
