Seeking Wargaming Chums in Cumbria

Postby hazza67 » Sun Feb 26, 2012 4:10 pm

Here goes..new to hail caesar but not new to wargaming. Played mostly 40k.

Are there any wargaming persons in Cumbria?? Be great to meet up with like minded individuals whom enjoy a action pacted, fun and exciting game or two. I'd love to get into the hail caesar stuff, seems similar to warmaster ancients on first inspection. Anyhoo! like I say hopefully my inbox will be in-undated with requests..."Hope Springs Eternal" as Blackadder said..

Take care and happy gaming "Who Rarr!"

Cumbria's a big place... If you're in Gilsland, and your likely opponent is in Barrow, he might as well be on t'moon. So, where in Cumbria are you?

I'm Cumbrian (originally from Wigton), but living in Lancaster... So if you happened to be in Kendal, or somewhere else in South Cumbria, maybe we could meet up.

Hey phil..I hear what you say about Cumbria being a big place. I live in Penrith which is pretty central to most places in Cumbria so travelling for me isn't that big of a deal etc.

And lancaster is only 45mins down the motorway..whats important for me is meeting people to play games with. I've loads of armies that never get played with :( so if the offers still open I'd really enjoy meeting up.

what armies do you collect??

anyway take care Marra...

Aye, Penrith's not far off.

I've got Early Imperial Romans and Britons - mainly Warlord. I've also got Middle Imperial Romans and Sassanid Persians. And lots of other stuff, from 1:1200 Napoleonic naval through to 20mm WW2.

I happily play almost anything though - I was in Preston yesterday, playing a naval game set in the 1860s. Ironclads and all that.

I am in West Cumbria and there are several of us just dabbling in HC so far, although we love Black Powder as well. Plus lots of other stuff.

We will be at the Dumfries show later this month with an ECW/Bishops wars 28mm game.

Workington at St Micheal's Hall. 7-15 to about 10:30.

As you may see from the facebook page most members are Fantasy and CCG gamers but there is a small band of historical gamers too.

HC as been played but I must admit at the moment the 28mm ancient players are dabbling with WAB, I have lots of 15mm and we recently had a DBA renaissance but I want to give HC a try in this scale as well.

I've some of my old 15mm Dbm armies knocking about at home, so these should be ok to play with i guess. i did notice one gamer from the WCG with a persian army created with HaT plastic's i think? these'll be 20mm. Is that the scale that the club mostly play ancients in??

We play a fair bit of Hail Caesar at Lancaster Wargamers.

Most has been using Romans and Celts, as a few of our members have good collections.

Yesterday evening we played our first Lord of the Rings game using Hail Caesar - worked a treat!

If Lancaster is not too far for you, we would love to see you.

Cheers

Hi Matt - that's good to hear - is there a web-site or blog for the club - be great to see what you've done with the LOTR games:) Regards to the crew - hope this doesn't mean you'll be abandoning the next Warmaster bash:)
