15mm Greek Hopilite armies.

Postby yorkie » Thu Jul 07, 2011 10:09 pm

Now then,

First post on this forum. I have recently got myself a nice shiny copy of HC, and i think its great so far, (haven't read it all yet). I have a few existing 15mm DBA armies, which im planning on expanding.

The standard unit will look like this -

The frontage of the unit will be 120mm, with a total of 36 models in 3 ranks. Does that sound about right?

There are more pictures and stuff over on my blog, here - http://yorkie.6sided.net/

Great work! Who is the manufacturer of the figures? My armies are 15mm as well. Are we allowed to mention other manufacturers? Warlord doesn't make 15's so it should be OK right?

I think 15's are perfect for hoplites, since most of what you see is shield anyway.

You know, i didn't even think about that, is it ok to post pics and stuff of other companies minis? if its a problem ill remove the image.

I chose 15mm due to space issues mainly. I would love to have the space to store big armies of 28mm stuff, especially with all the cheap plastics being released these days. I think Warlord should stard making some hard plastic 15mm stuff.... 8-)

Anyway, if you go to my blog, all the info is on there as to manufacturer etc.

It's not stopped the majority of us from posting pics of different minis.

Sign'd in thy spoil, and crimson'd in thy lethe.

Ok then. Im aware however that this is the Warlord games website etc, so potentially promoting other companies minis might be bad form. :?:

Anyway, im quite happy with how i have organised the Hopilite phalanx units, so that will be the template of how i plan future purchases, unless someone with a bit more experience of the game can recommend a better way of doing it.

Now i have an idea as to what in doing with the 15mm stuff, im planning on testing the rules with my 10mm Romans and Ancient Britons.

Cheers

As Phil the moderator has been around and i assume you haven't had a PM telling you not to do it again your probably OK! As you say as Warlord doesn't do a 15mm range you're not directly competing. After all you're using them to play a warlord produced game.
And I for one think the forums benefit from having a wide variety of gamers posting pic of a wide variety of armies in a friendly way.
