I find the Victrix French/Brits nice but fiddly.

The Perry french are good if you want Bardin uniforms. I am hoping that WG french will be similar quality to Perry's but earlier uniforms. Would be even better if we can mix bits between the 2 sets for added variety but that would be a bonus.

Will be getting at least 1 box to see which I prefer.

Cheers

But why, oh why, are the French infantry wearing full-dress shakos and gaiters? (on campaign, French soldiers wore covers over their shakos and linen trousers)

Full dress is prettier? Not enough time to put on the cover?

I think the more options available to the Napoleonic wargamer, the better. Especially when my French force will need 12+ battalions of infantry!

During general battles troops wore full dress uniform. Are you going to play battles or guerilla actions? Besides, Perry have all their inf in campaign dress.

Yeah - but why on earth are they wearing gaiters when linen trousers were worn? (though in Spain/Portugal, local brown cloth trousers and espadrilles were more likely than the official issue white trousers and black shoes. The Army of Portugal spent months on end completely out of contact with France, and it depended on locally requisitioned kit - a supply of full dress uniforms I'd hazard was pretty low on the commisariat's priorites!)
