Pike and Shotte rules

Postby owaincaesarius » Thu Sep 29, 2011 2:35 pm

I know they may be some way off yet but can anyone who may know give me some indication of likely unit sizes/frontages for 30YW units under the new Black Powder Pike and Shot era rules.

Just so I can plan ahead like....

Hi Owaincaesarius

Welcome to the WG forums!

You might find this thread helpful:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2629

You can PM SteveMorgan who is writing the new rules an I'm sure he will help answer your questions.

What I know is:
For foot
Units are either Pike or Shot and then 3 (or more) units work together as a batallia, this could be 2 shot, 1 pike or even 3 shot or 2 shot, 2 pike etc. You need at least a batallia each side to play.

I think Unit sizes are between 16-8 men and batallia are anything from 24 men up to 40 or more.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, reading through the earlier posts is very useful. Still not too sure how many figures would make up a Swedish squadron and Brigade or one of Father Tilly's regiment/tercio though, I'll await the books final word.

I think we are all waiting for Pike and Shotte - probably the most eagerly anticipated rules release of all time!

Or something like that. Seriously - cannot wait!
