hey legionary! we suggest you play on a larger table than 4x4 if you can for 3 reasons really..
1,It just looks better if you can get a bigger board out and lay down more troops.
2, we suggest , but do not insist on largish units, commonly 36 x28mm models, with perhaps 3 units in a Brigade, and 3 Brigades in an army,, so lots of soldiers on the field potentially(no need to obseesa bout army lists or base sizes..
and 3.Units CAN move quickly and far if desired and luck is with you..thats NOT to say its a good idea to move your inf brigade 36"in one turn,,its just that potentiall you COULD, so a larger board allows flank marches and reinforcements and reserves to be most useful
oh and a fourth, is that the game is played in a hearty manner, not using micrometers as some folk do, its using all your collection if you have it or buddying up with a pal.
hope that helps..
If all you have is a 4x4, then cut down the unit sizes to , say 24, and field smaller brigades, you will still have fun!!
cheers
