Battle report SYW in Germany

Postby fredthegreat » Mon Nov 14, 2011 9:21 am

Hello,

My name is Michel, from Normandy, France. In my club, we have just begun using Black Powder, but we are enthusiastic. Here is the report of our first battle, somewhere in northern Germany in 1759.

Sorry, it's in french... and the allies lost.
Best regards.

I can hardly read a word of French but enjoyed the pictures tremendously :D Thankyou! The mix of figures and re enactment was a nice touch. Figures look great :D
I have one negative observation....very serious looking friends; perhaps decorate the table with some wine glasses and some of your finest vintages next time? ;) ;)

This lloks great.
I always thought that 12 figure battalions would be too small, but you prove otherwise.
Great battlereport and great figures.
Thansk for sharing

Lovely battle report. I noticed the use of individually based figures using movement trays to more easily move the figures.

Superb painting but brings up a pet hate of mine, eyes. By comparing how people have painted the eyes of the figures with the live action shots we can see the difference

Truly you have to be very close to someone to see the whites of their eyes!

And did I see figures being removed as casualties?

Once you get them running, you can stay on top of them, and that way a small force can defeat a large one every time

Many Thanks My Lords.
Don't be confused. For this report, I used many ancient words from eighteenth century french, which is quite difficult to understand, even for the frenchs. Next time, I will perhaps write a summary in english.
We truly like Black Powder, but our units were made for other rules (Warfare in the age of Reason, and a WAB-like for 18th century). That's why we used 12 figures battalions. We also removed casualties and used markers for disorders.
The brands of the figures are (mostly) Front Rank and Foundry.
And yes, as true frenchs, we like wine. But our wargaming club is housed with other associations which don't authorize alcohol. It's very sad indeed. Dura lex, sed lex.
