Short battle report: Napoleonic battle of BERGBOSEN 1813

Postby Fugazi » Tue Aug 23, 2011 1:48 pm

Hi friends,

here are some picts with partial battle report about the big battle we fought over two days.
O.k. i am a "slave" for this forum but I hope not for this report ;)

The french troops must defeat the prussian army at the small village BERGBOSEN in autumn 1813.
Therefore they must build a ponton bridge over the river to unite their splitet army.

When you come to CRISIS, Antwerp, Belgium this year (5th November) come along to our THS gaming table.
There you can see these setting/scenario LIVE!
You can also see this and some other interesting things on www.ths-wargames.de.

And now ... enjoy the picts ...

French light infantry take the EBERSBERG in the beginning of the battle and the westphalian artillery goes into position.

The prussian artillery take their positions.

The Westphalian infantry march into the village BERGBOSEN on the french left wing.

The french/westphalian advance in the centre.

Prussian artillery in the north of the village BERGBOSEN ...

... that is now completely occupied by the westphalian troops.
Image

The "spearhead" of the french pontoneers reach the battlefield and goes immediate to the river, protected by light troops.

The Prussian cavalry goes into a position to charge the french centre ... but ...
Image

... the massive french cavalry countercharge push it back from the battle for this day!
Image

This action opens the way for the french infantry attack columns with support from the Guard Lancers.
Image

After the winning of the centre of the battlefield, the french pioneers begins to build the ponton bridge.

Meanwhile the prussians starts a last attack on the french right wing to take the church occupied by light french troops and westphalian guard chasseurs.

But it is to late. The bridge is ready for the crossing ...
Image

... even if there is the danger of burning ships and jaegers on small boats to prevent the crossing.
Image

But light french troops stops the boats and the crossing starts with the bagage train.

Whta an amazing set of photos. The models are beautifully painted, but for me the buildings and terrain steal the show, just gorgeous. The pioneers working on the bridge are a great addition.
