Isandlwana 1879

A few weeks ago we played a Black Powder game loosely based on the battle of Isandlwana.Pictures can be found here:http://www.guildwargamers.com/.....mp;t=15567It was based on the excellent scenario by Chris Leach for Battles for Empire rules.I have loaded the scenario and both orbat sheets to my website:http://www.wordloptions.com.au.....lwana2.dochttp://www.wordloptions.com.au.....a_Zulu.dochttp://www.wordloptions.com.au.....ritish.docThe British forces were drawn up in a defensive position close to Isandlwana (the scenario assumed that Durnford's force had already been overrun).  The Zulu centre and right wing advanced quickly.  For some reason the Zulu left wing was very reluctant to advance.  Maybe Durnford's forces were still holding them off in the donga. The first into the British line were the Zulus of the right wing.  We have found in colonial games that it is very important for the British player to use the "special abilities" of the British units to hold the line.  In our game most of the initial clashes either saw the British hold with a "desperate struggle" in the following turn.Unfortunately the Zulus rolled up the British left capturing in turn the vital "camps" (5 in total) for victory points. The game finished when the last British camp fell. Unfortunately the British were not able to eliminate the 9 Zulu units to force them to retire. For a battle that I once thought was unplayable this was actually very "enjoyable" even though I was the British player !This is our 5th Colonial game and Black Powder has finally allowed me to play the Zulu War,Mark
