Bases ordered, miniatures waiting to be painted. No I need some inspirations. Do You know good uniform colours informations?

I would like to paint light infantry in black (found a Rifle Brigade black uniform in osprey), regulars in normal red+blue... Would I be acceptable?

Oh, I almost forgot. Do You know where can i find british (regular, highlanders etc) flags (for 28mm)? I would like to start painting those first.

The Crimea isn't really my period and I'm more than willing to be corrected, but unless I'm very much mistaken I think you'll find that the Rifle Brigade uniform is actually a very dark green, not black - some pictures show them with sandy coloured trousers. Regular infantry will be in red coats and either a very dark grey or black trouser. I'd suggest trying to get a decent book on the subject as a lot of kit was probably quite improvised - the British Army in the Crimea was notoriously poorly supplied.
Boy, it sure would be nice if we had some grenades, don't you think?

Big thanks for Your help. Rifle Brigade uniform is indeed very dark green. It is even better :) (love painting dark green). I want that unit to stand out. All the rest should be "normal" Red Coats. The uniform museum is what I needed. Now I need flags. I saw flags at games foundry but I would like to print and pain t them my own...

I am looking for a book about Crimea in Polish so it might take a while to get more informations about that period.

The Victorian problem with rifle green was that it faded extremely fast. Sp they used a shade that was realy nearly black on production and was mid green in time the tunic was worn out. The UV problem every collector of uniforms know, don't put anything old near a window.

:)

On the picture at uniform museum the only part green is a jacket. Was the trousers also green or only faded red?

The rifles wore no red trousers, regulation was same colour than tunic. But on campaign some got replacements in brown or grey, but only if no green ones had been available locally.

I will paint most of my riflemen with green, some with brown. Thanks!

Do You know where can I find banners...?

Great minis. I will buy some of those as soon as I finish my 3 units of infantry

There are some infantry colours here:

Yet again I will emphasise that this isn't my period so I can't vouch for the accuracy, only my google skills :D
