Imagi-Nation WSS Army List

Postby Atropos » Tue Jun 26, 2012 12:23 pm

After several years without wargaming (mainly due to lack of people to play with/against) and an aborted attempt at GW W40K (way to pricey by now) I decided that after moving to England I'll give it another try.

I have decided to go for 28mm and an imaginary nation (since I am a crappy painter and fear discussions along the line of "French infantry cuffs for that regiment should be 1/32 of an inch shorter and should be eau de nile and not duck egg blue ... ;) ).
I picked up the Black Powder: Last Argument of Kings since the rules appear to be easy enough to allow me to get back into the game, while still offering a lot of options.

To cut to the chase: I am designing my army at the moment and would like some feedback if the army is too overpowered/broken/unplayable etc.

The Nation
The Electorate of Westphalia is a Catholic state, roughly covering the modern Federal State of North-Rhine Westphalia, created when the Duchies of Westphalia (including the Archbisphopric of Cologne and the Bisphoprics of Munster and Paderborn), Cleves, Julich and Berg and the County of Mark as well as several Free Cities were combined after the 30YW.

The armed forces are heavily influenced by their neighbours: the United Provinces and Hanover (and therefore the British as well).
They are augmented by mercenary regiments, mainly composed of Irishmen and Scots (those guys are everywhere) and Hessians from the neighbouring small principalities.

As to rules I mainly plundered the British army list and modified the units a little bit by adding options I liked and thought fitting.

Guards (max. of 2 to 4 Btls.)
H2H 7 Shooting 3 Morale 3+ Stamina 4 (Platoon Fire, First Fire, Valiant, Elite)

Line Infantry
H2H 6 Shooting 3 Morale 4+ Stamina 3 (Platoon Fire, First Fire, Steady)

Light Infantry (max. 2 to 4 Btls.)
H2H 6 Shooting 3 Morale 4+ Stamina 3 (Marauders, Sharp Shooters)

Milita
H2H 4 Shooting 4 Morale 5+ Stamina 3 (Wavering)

Foreign Infantry
H2H 6 Shooting 3 Morale 3+ Stamina 3 (First Fire)
Hessians are Superbly Drilled, Irish are Tough Fighters and Scots have a Ferocious Charge (yes, racial profiling ... sue me. :D )

Life Guard Cuirassiers (max. 1 Rgt.)
H2H 9 Shooting - Morale 3+ Stamina 4 (Heavy Cavalry +1d3, Tough Fighters, Elite 4+)

Horse
H2H 8 Shooting - Morale 4+ Stamina 3 (Heavy Cavalry +1)

Dragoons
H2H 6 Shooting 2 Morale 4+ Stamina 3 (Dragoons)

Husars (Foreign Regiments, max. 2)
H2H 6 Shooting - Morale 4+ Stamina 3 (Marauders)
