Sounds of WW2...

Not sure if this has been posted before, but this video really makes you realise just how horrible battle must have *sounded* as well as felt, looked etc...

Oh I wouldn't get too worried about that.

Virtually all WW2 camera footage has no sound with it. Hence, most of what you're listening to is actually from a sound effects archive! I've got a tape somewhere at home with them on! Years ago I listened to a programme on BBC R4 and they interviwed the lady who did ALL the sound effects for the combat scenes in the "World at War". Banging pots and pans together and such nonsense! Not sure how they did the squealy-rumble of tanks, but I wish I knew!

i quite agree about rocket launchers, the 'tearing cloth' noise from the German LMG's comes across too!
