Yeah its Barrukus again!!

Postby BA Barrukus » Thu May 10, 2012 5:41 pm

Hello all, once again I have a question. With the arrival of my first BA minis, there were no bases. I know most of you are saying"that damm yank", but before you commit to these words just remember Im a 1:32/ 1:35 scale diorama builder and noobie TTWGer. Where I do not use bases, just pin them into the diorama itself. So with this in mind where do I find the correct bases for my infantry, weapons support, and artillery? Hopefully none for the armor! The ones I saw have some fancy, schmancy detail that I prefer to make myself. From what I understand all minis should be able to be removed from the larger bases of weapons teams for casualty reasons, correct.

I use pennies for bases (they're the cheapest thing out there); I particularly like the new zinc-filled ones. I attach minis with epoxy glue; then build up "earth" with green stuff; texture with toothbrush and voila! For this non-Warlord marine artillery piece I made simple base from thin wood, cut out penny size openings for crew:

I use 2.5mm basswood (its a little stiffer than balsa). I only use washers for figs with bases too large for a penny. Washers cost at least $.05

Nice job Grendal, like the skins on those Marines. No pun intended. I thought the bases had to be a certain size like in other wargames. Thanks for the tip. For the guy asking about the wood, you could use 1/16" balsa or 1/8" plywood.

I like to use the 30mm lipped bases and for prone models I use the "Biker" or Cavalry lipped bases from Fenris. I also use the Chariot 100mm lipped bases from Fenris for my Anti tank guns. The Fenris bases are all resin and reasonably priced. Fenris is a shop on ebay. :D

I order the 25mm round bases from Litko.

For guns, I've found great bases in thw wood section of Hobby Lobby, CHEAP.

If you are going for Bolt Action then no particular base size is required as they dont come into the game at all. Have a look at the Renendra bases on the WG site here thats what I use and I dont base AT guns etc, just the crews.
Cheers
