Good review, thanks for pointing it out. They do look like a very nice set. I agree with you about the Bases and the leaflet, particularly the bases.
These metal BA sets, whilst still good value are quite an expensive outlay and including the plastic bases would be a sweetner, and seeing as the plastic BA have a set base type it would make it a lot easier if the same ones were included in the metal boxes. I buy my plastic bases from Renedra directly, they are very reasonable and are identical to the one is the BA plastic sets, you can even get them in grey plastic.
"I've been a frickin' evil doctor for 30 frickin' years! So cut me some frickin' slack."
Completely agree on the bases. My Fallschirmjager had to go on GW bases instead of the Renedra as a result.
The other thing I have requested to Paul is decals for the vehicles. I just outlayed $30 for decals for my Sherman and Sdkfz 250, although I also plumped for some FJ decals (for helmets and such - very cool little decals) - all from Company B.
The issue with the bases is that the set pre-dates the idea of Warlord having a ruleset of their own so it's left wide open for you to have your own basing standard for whatever you're playing without having to pay for bases you don't always use. A good example is the bases with the Germans being separate renedra jobs but the US having on sprue bases, both in the dimensions of the often favoured 2 pence coin. Metals with a foot often get lipped base treatment to reduce the "man on a molehill" look and folk like me just can't shake the GW aesthetic. I'm currently favouring Fenris Game's resin cobbled bases for instance.
