Marines Sherman?

Postby grant » Sat Oct 22, 2011 2:51 am

Hey,

Just wondering if there will be a Marines Sherman offered? I believe they used the M4A2? Different hull? Diesel engine?

I will need something for my Japanese to shoot.

The USMC used the M3A3 and the M4A2 so our US Sherman 75 is just what you are looking for...

Yep Warlords Shermans would fit the bill as M4A2 had a diesel engine, dont think there was much difference otherwise ;)
Once you get them running, you can stay on top of them, and that way a small force can defeat a large one every time

Perfect! I thought for some reason they didn't have the A3, I really know very little about the Pacific theatre, so that's great.

I do know the A2 has a different hull deck to accommodate the diesel, so if I had an A3, I suppose I could cover the hull in kit and call it an A2 - not like anyone would care!

Cheers :D

The Marines used the M4A2 until the US Army, who supplied tanks to the Marines, forced them to change to the standard Army M4A3 instead. The M4A2 was still in use for quite a while so either version is good really. The US Army also had tank battalions in the Pacific with M4 and M4A1 tanks.

Did they have modified exhausts for beach landings?

Thanks for that; I really have little idea of the Pacific or anything American Army/Marines! All my time in historical WW2 gaming has been spent on Canadian and German stuff.

Now that I have some Japanese on order, I can start thinking about my US Marines to fight with them.

I do know there were some with large intakes like the Churchills at Dieppe. I have come across a photo:

They did use deep wading kits when needed.

They also used wooden armour...

Great photos, both of you! I did see an add-on modelling kit on one of the sites when I was crashing around for Sherman stuff for the wooden sides. But the concrete - zimmeritfail? :D
