The Militärbläche is square but they are made of that impregnated cotton cloth. Not very waterproof. There is a reason why they no longer use it as rain protection. Just for Biwak.
And the German form is obvious on period pictures. Look at the arms. Imagin to wear one in a wood. Or Boccage. And imagin to see a well clad SS man. I would have ... feelings for him.
Anyway I would like to see some of the ordinary German soldiers in metal. Not only SS and Fallschirmjäger.

A little but much, much less than your main uniform, webbing straps, equipment hanging on the back and would you believe, much less than your own arms. The reason being that it streamlines your form. The only thing from the top of you head to the bottom of your crotch it can catch is the neck hole.
