Getting back into Historical gaming and re-releases

Postby Dead Circus Monkey » Sun Mar 18, 2012 8:33 am

After a long hiatus from Warhammer Fantasy, I am getting back into historical.

28mm WWII minis is starting to attract many 40k players in my group same size and what. Bolt Action was one of my favorite lines I use to have along with a few others, always found their poses on par with warhammer, dynamic, cinematic, etc. basically not boring.

Germans seem to be the most popular for people in my group to play. Tigers, Tigers, SS stuff, Tigers, and Tigers. They seem to like Tigers.

Do you think Russians would be best fit for demo/introduction when the rules come out? I've always been a Russian player primarily.

I am also wondering about some of the older released miniatures from Bolt Action and if they will reRelease them like they have for some of the other nations

such as these Russians. Also had a Eastern European Cottage/Farm House I had some time ago that was lost with my house. Dose WLG still sell these?

Nice Russians there DCM, I can see why you would want to use them when the BA rules come out. Which armies you use is a personal choice really. Russians were supposed to be a infantry heavy army, whereas US would be more balanced. Go with whatever you enjoy the most as I am sure Warlord will be covering all eventualities.
Cheers

Just to make it clear, those are not my work. Way to fancy compared to my work.

I'm just looking for some of the old stuff along with the new stuff to paint.

When you have rules that reflect the inherent mechanical unreliability of Tigers etc., you suddenly have armies with Mk IVs and StuGs - funny ol' thing

That is very true, Janner. If you also included their ability to bog down due to their weight, you would find more scenarios on muddy terrain being set up by those who were playing against them. Funny people, wargamers. ;)

Tigers and Panthers are the reason I don't like gaming Europe as much as other games. It's like bringing a gun to a knife fight.
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

For the short period of time when I played Flames of War, there was nothing more entertaining that watching your opponents face when seeing his Beefy tiger platoon burst into flames from my horde of Stuarts.

Hey, I didn't say I regret owning it, nor did I say I wish I had included it in today's ebay auctions, but there's always next time!
