Perry Brit and Han. 1815 Range - A question

Postby CaptainMatt » Wed Oct 13, 2010 10:15 am

Hi,Could someone please give me some advice as to what parts of this excellent range of figures would be suitable for use during the Peninsular War?I appreciate that infantry with Belgique Shakos are not, but what about the other troops? Many Thanks in advanceMatt

Rifles.Highlanders.Light Infantry.Royal Horse Artillery.BH16 will suit as KGL Light as not all were armed with the rifle. The 2 battalions had slightly different uniforms but a bit of filler and filing here and there plus clever use of command figures should allow you to do both.

Perry Brit and Han. 1815 Range - A question

Mind you, there are a few spare heads with Stovepipe shakos in every box of plastic line infantry; good for making conversions of metals. I converted kneeling Waterloo infantry as well as foot artillery quite easily into their Peninsular counterparts. Not painted yet but let me know if you need some pics..Cool Cheers S.P.

Perry Brit and Han. 1815 Range - A question

And it should be remembered that the Belgic shako was part of the 1812 revisions, some of which were received in the Peninsular in 1813. I'll be honest and say that for the most part I have been looking at the cavalry, but the 12th and 13th certainly received their 1812 uniforms by Spring 1813. Conversely, the 16th received theirs in February 1815. So the Perry Light Dragoons will do for most of the dragoons in the later Peninsular war. It is also not impossible to think that new drafts and newly deployed regiments may well have the new uniform. The Hussars once they finally got back in to the field after their 4 year hiatus were also in the 1812 revisions and in shakos (with the exception of the 18th) Regulations stipulated not to wear pelisses slung or shabraques, but the 10th and 15th are referred to in contemporary correspondence as wearing shabraques in the field, and the 7th and 18th did not. (the 18th are also referred to having plain blue shabraques for officers only)
