Radetzky Crimean Miniatures

Firstly, note spelling!!Secondly, that's an interesting little acquisition for Warlord. Having looked at the website gallery the figures look decent enough without being remarkable, but Radetzky was obviously in the early stages of development as a company before being sold on. I take it this is very much a launching pad for Warlord to expand and improve on?I shall watch this with interest. Crimean stuff has never grabbed me before, but since my 'Big Wullie' sits lonely on his shelf I remain open to influences to expand his social and professional circle.

That is now Warlord's second acquisition in space of a year.I was touching on this subject when we were all discussing Warlord's anticipated Blackpowder minis release.I still think and nothing recent has changed my mind ,that Victrix are a lame duck  and will possibly be taken over if things don't improve with their business model.Gripping Beast are another company that appear to be busy in the take over dept , having recently acquired Musketeer Miniatures.

Gripping Beast have not taken over Musketeer Miniatures, they manafature and distribute the figures but they do not own Musketeer.

I think thats just splitting hairs IMOIn their words they have "taken over the day to day running of Musketeer Miniatures " This includes sales and distribution. In building Industry terms this would be subcontracting.

Its not splitting hairsIt was because Bill the owner needed to find the time to produce some new sculpts and finishing the ranges off. His time was taken up by packing orders and casting. It's something that Artizan and Crusader both do with Northstar. Which means they no longer do the donkey.Anyway lets get back to Crimean figures.Paul

Getting back to the Crimean War then any news on how expansive the range will be and if it may cross over into the plastic market.     Steve

Well I think if you want to tempt people over to a new era/range then you would need to introduce plastic rank and file troops. The rationale behind this comment of mine is that I feel its far too expensive these days to buy an army comprising of 100% metal miniatures. I have not checked this range so I am assuming that it is a 100% metal range at the moment. Apart from "in the pipeline sculpts" I think Warlord need to develop plastics for this range as soon as possible, then I believe the Crimean as an era in wargaming will be taken seriously by a larger number of people.Until plastics are introduced I will not be buying.

All they have at the moment is a few British marching figures and a couple of command models, hence I doubt it's anything more than a seed from which Warlord's Crimea range will grow some time in the future. I don't blame you for not buying anything yet, there's not that much to buy!

Thanks Cubster Yeah you are right there isn't much there which means this range will need heavy investment .I just hope Warlord don't end up over committing themselves . I would be interesting if Paul  would add a little more meat to the bone as regards the future of this range.
