Wish List

Postby Correus » Thu May 31, 2012 12:37 am

Well...we all seem to like making 'wish lists' for the WG gods. I know there have been several, but I can't think of seeing a P&S one specifically.

That being said...what would you like to see added to the P&S line?

I know there are a handful of civilians, but it would be nice to see some in 'everyday' type poses not just the angry mob ones. You know, towns people, market scenes, black smith shop & figures, shepherd and ship (I thought I saw this one somewhere), etc.

Some mines along the lines of those depicted in William Barnes Wollen's painting 'English Civil War in 1645' including the tavern wares'.

Since I'm not an ECW scholar - yet - I'm not sure what would be good for the military aspect.

On a purely selfish note, I'd like to see more badly equipped troops for my early royalists. Musketeers without bandoleers, that sort of thing.

And some mercenary-type figures.

There was a thread on here ages ago requesting an additional plastic sprue for pike and Shotte. This would in include extra arms, (such as walking with musket rest or pike at rest), weapons eg swords pistols muskets etc, extra bags and pouches, cups, plates, knives, even poached fowl or rabbits, extra hats, feathers, helmets and Any other bits that could be used for conversions and base etc. there was quite a lot of support for the idea if memory serves and it would be a big seller as an add on I think. Or could be sold in conjunction with other plastic sprues as a modified set, ECW veterans perhaps with one less main sprue than the standard box by the sprue of extras. So you would get 29 plastic mins plus the extras.

I would also like to see more civilians in standard poses, more generic mounted officer types. A trained bands set might be nice also eg musketeers in buff coats, perhaps more fancy better quality equipment.

Seconded!

Thirded!
I would also like to see a few more Musketeers and Pike Men (including more loading ones and a few of the plastic 'at porte' pose with facial hair) to mix into the ranks. Poorly equipped Royalists would be good. It would be nice if you could buy spare Firelock musketeers from the webstore too.

Are the New Model going to be available to buy seperately? that would be useful. Oh and more Commanders/Sergeants? Also, I am sure you used to be able to buy the new hats from the Imperial boxset seperately, but I cannot see them now.

Hmmm...'Poorly equipped Royalists' have been mention by two of you. Were the Royalists worse off than the Parliamentarians to begin with?

I think both sides started underequipped but as far as I'm aware it's been even worse for the Royalists as the war dragged on.
But I'm no scholar yet either ;)

I'd really like to see an accessory sprue with pouches, bags, haversacks and the like, this would be the easiest way to customise your force.
Also separate arms would allow us to get even more out of the plastic infantry.
Both could be in metal.
However, I strongly feel another plastic box of infantry that could be used for both sides of the ECW and TYW
would sell like hot cakes!

What do you think Warlords?

Yes. It seems so. Broadly speaking, Parliament controlled many of the big urban areas of England at the start of the war. This means not only large populations to recruit from, but also the centres of manufacturing and commerce. As Charles 1 was effectively exiled to Oxford, it would have taken time for the Royalists to set up centres of production. Clarendon described the King's Infantry at Edgehill:'The foot (all but three of four hundred, who marched with no weapon but a cudgel) were armed with muskets and bags for their powder...but in the whole body there was not one pikeman had a corselet and very few musketeers who had swords' There was also shortage of powder and ammunition. John Barrat states that: 'In Febuary 1643, the Kings Lifeguard of Foot had 322 of its 512 men unarmed. It took until April to supply them and even then there were twice as many pike as muskets'

I too would be very happy to see poorly equipped troops (pop them in any regiment - make sure they can accommodate the variety of hats as I see them as being useful in the Scots & Irish armies as well.)

The plastic sprue of extras would also be excellent, though I understand that plastic masters are much more costly than metal. However, as I'm sure this would be a great seller, it would surely pay for itself (just drop into the Wargames Factory forums to see the angst & heartache about getting extra plastic sprues because of the expense). Such a sprue could be sold individually as well as in a Veterans pack as suggested.

As regards this sprue, I really need extra arms for flag wavers - horse & foot as I like a lot of flags per unit, and while the officer type on the command sprue is useful, the musician is not so useful.

I note another topic requesting a figure for Newcastle, and I would second this.

More "generic" command figures to use as Battaglia commanders in the "BP Pike & Shotte Rules" would be useful (bases for these commanders are another place for flag bearers, too). Again, please allow for different hats, as a blue bonnet or 2 may slip in. ;)

Could we also have a grenadoe throwing figure or 2, without the cavalry gear, to use in storming parties & such other units as are allowed them, please?

The other useful type (a couple would be good) for storming parties and shotte units would be a soldier with musket reversed as a club, for the assault, esp. after all the powder us expended.

Perhaps the last 2 suggestions might be a second storming party?

Cheers, Rohan.
