Expanding armies

Postby Stuart » Sun Jul 29, 2012 10:52 pm

Now I've got back into all things ECW, I was wondering if it would be possible to use the TYW infantry box sets for ECW, I want a couple of larger regiments and there's more figs in these box sets plus different command. I know the basic ECW sprue is used but didn't know if it was as simple as that or if there are parts specific to the TYW only? Any help/advice is appreciated.

Also is it my imagination or on page 18 of Pike & Shotte, the picture of how an army should look, is the centre being commanded by Rupert while the flanks by Cromwell and Fairfax!! That's the work of the Devil  :old

I think the only major difference would be the more prominent usage of the musket rest in the earlier period, beyond that I am not sure.

Cheers grant, if it's just that I'll leave the rests out and hopefully get away with it.

There does not seem to be much difference I agree although the Swedish box set has helmets for the musketeers which by the time of the ECW seems to have been phased out. Depending on whether you are doing early or late ECW, you could have some rests for early as Grenvilles seem to have had them (painted blue and white according to John Barratt) and Slannings had swine feathers.

Thanks westwaller, I'm doing early ECW and have mixed spare hats from other boxes I can use rather than all wearing morions.
