The very small Royalist units at Naseby would not be able to form more than one pike block at all. Some are so weak, they got brigaded with others and for them it might have been possible.
But Sprigge's famous image of Naseby show even the larger New Model regiments in classic one block of pikes arrangement.

Just try both variants in game. That's the fun, we would not lose the head.

I agree with everyone on this, Steve - it sounds exactly what I have been looking for!

As Mike said yesterday, any idea of a date yet?

I asked on the FB page last week and this was the reply given

The final playtesting and battle write-ups are happening as I type. We're expecting to start work on production before too long. As I'm sure you'll appreciate it is too early to mention any dates for release...

So not soon

Beautiful!
Could we have a little hope and expect some reference to the Catalan front of the Franco Spanish war? It is called the Reaper's War or Catalan Revolt and was active for almost 20 years after all. And it saw a major Tercio defeat at Montjuïch by early 1641 and several big sieges (Lleida, Tarragona, Perpinyà, Tortosa) and a few pitched battles (Montmeló and La Granada, Sant LLorenç de Montgai, Santa Cecília, Berga)...
The only thing at LAOK was the reference to 1707 Almansa and the WSS ending by 1714. Nothing about big battles as Almenar, Prats de Rei (called the Catalan Stalingrad), Brihuega, Villaviciosa or Saragossa or the epic two sieges of Barcelona...

With regard to formations I like the sound of the flexibility to represent different formations over the whole pike and shot era, although for the ECW I would stick to a pike block with two sleves of shot. My only query about a battalion being made up, for example, of 3 units of pike and 6 of shot is: If a regiment In effect raised as one body and lead by a colonel was represented by two units of shot and a block of pike would the three sub units test separately for moral. Would this possibly lead for example to the pike failing a test and fleeing but the two wings remaining. I would see this as being a bit illogical if so. Period documents suggest reg't fight and flee as a body rather than as subunits. :?: or am I missing a trick :?:
