C-47 Cabin

Postby Idoites » Tue Aug 07, 2012 11:39 am

Humbrol used to list a color; " Aircraft Interier Green". I remenber it being hard on the eyes, kind of neonish. I've googled for pix, etc, but I'm no closer to a resolution. What color was the interier of a C-47?

Thanks, guys.

Like minty greenish.
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Google gives a lot of results - nothing conclusive, and I think the date of the airframe will be a factor ... these are probably worth a look:

So like Grant says, something like peppermint (give or take a few tones and interpretations) seems to be popular.

Gentlemen; thanks. That's what I get for only doing an Image search....

But; Am I correct? No one has actually painted the inside of one? The Canack example just re-inforces my first impluse to use a light(ish) green, then drybrush gunmetal on liberally and follow up with a lighter drybrush of steel.

The Canadian version is probably one that flew into the 1980s with reserve air force units. I went up in one on a familiarization flight when I was young. Puked the whole time. I think a brownish floor would be appropriate. Blotchy spots.

Rhodesian Air Force Dakotas interior was charcoal grey. Source:- From my Old Man who was in the RLI and has checked with a RhAF buddy that serviced the Daks at New Sarum Air Force Base , Salisbury back in the late 70's.
