A Tale of IV Gamers

Postby Big Al » Tue Jul 19, 2011 4:49 pm

Who remembers when Hail Caesar was released, this article?

http://www.warlordgames.co.uk/hail-caes ... iv-gamers/

Whatever became of this? I don't remember seeing any pictures or battle reports and now with the Open Day looming at Maelstrom, I saw Rick post that he would have to bring out his armies for the day. Surely this would be a fine opportunity for those "Gamers" to show off the results of the hard work spent on this project and use them at the Open Day this weekend.

Just thought I'd use my wooden spoon here a little ;)

Well 'stirred' Al!

I have fond memories of the original 'Tale of...' back when White Dwarf was a proper hobby magazine - but that's another can of worms probably best not opened here ;)

Come to think of it, I also remember a great series of articles by one Mr P.Sawyer when he was collecting his WH Chaos army. In fact, I still do all my bases to Paul's 'recipe' from those articles. I had to go out and buy up all the Flesh Wash from various stores before it all went when the range was replaced with the current Devaln Mud et al, and now have a cupboard full! Perhaps we should encourage him to do something similar with that AWI army we have seen snippets of here? :)
You will rue this day - well go on, start rue-ing!

Yes, I thought about this the other day, I really liked the idea of the article. Though I suspect the folks atop of Warlord Mountain are very busy!

Yes - how I laughed when the chaps said they were going to do this! Talk about rod for your back. It's one of the hardest things to do and you really have to stick at it to get anyway at any kind of pace. There are too many distractions - well you can imagine can't you: Historicon, work, latest Bolt Action Tank, beer, Open Day, a UK show most weekends...

So - a jolly good idea for sure - and a worthy try I'll admit - but I think it's been sensibly notched down to 'we'll update it when we have something to update'.

I was just stirring it a bit, Rick. Felt a little humour and a dig wouldn't go amiss considering all the hard work you yourself seem to be putting into the project!

However, I do appreciate, as I am sure all the other members do, the hard work and effort the Warlord Team put into everything else that they do to try to meet our demands. Well done chaps and keep up the good work!

Thanks for that Al! I did realise you were in jest though - it's just that its so so so very true!

I'm not sure this is really hard work though - mostly it's too much fun - making wargames for a living has got to be about as good as it gets really! It's just finding time to do everything you dream about - well that's impossible!

Ah! But is it not better to aim your spear at the moon and only hit an eagle, than to aim your spear at an eagle an only hit a rock? ;)
