What Next - the Celts, Britons and Germanics Version

Postby Correus » Sun Dec 18, 2011 5:58 pm

Per Paul @ WG:

Four years ago we started Warlord Games with a plastic boxed set of Roman legionaries.

Over that time we've added stacks more to the range and every time we think we're about done with them a few more ideas raise their heads above the parapet.

Whilst we still have a few things to release for the Imperial Roman range it'd be fun to hear what you all think could be added to the range in case we're missing something. No promises we'll make what you suggest, but you never know!

Over to you...

What about the Celts, Britons and Germanics? :D

I have a few ideas, but would like to know what others think first.

Absolutely not. The only good celt/germanic is a melted plastic one reformed as a roman

Selling the ancient Briton heads separately on te web store would be a great start!

Well, a big germanic release was already announced (preview this month somewhere, if all goes well).
So some of the things to be mentioned will probably already be done, but anyway:

Germanic warriors with shield and long spears. The tribesmen box doesn't really allow this to be done well (mostly javelins in there).
Hopefully a good amount of seperate poses, I'd like quite a bunch of these.
Germanic horsemen. Either armed Sarmatian style (big spear/lance) or as usual infantry, ready to dismount and fight on foot.
Guys to run between horses. Tribesman may already allow this to be done to a certain degree though.
Seperate command, also higher commanders. Arminius, Julius Civilis etc.
Animal-style warriors, e.g. 'berserkers'. Wolf and bear variety at least, with their specific wargear.
Archers. Not very important in their warfare from what I know, but they must have existed.
Perhaps typically Germanic auxiliaries to fight in the Batavian revolt?
Non-fighting women and small children to strengthen the morale of the nearby soldiers.
A couple of colourful druidy/seer characters are always fun as well.
War is not about who is right, but who is left...

Oh, so you want us to completely redo the Germanic range then?
Cheers,

There is a range? ;)

I will not promise to buy another army if you do a real nice full range but I'm a weak person, hardly able to resist. The actual plastic miniatures have the "classic" plastic style of super hero fighters. Not getting me to want an army of them.
But the Centurio Cunibus list to be fulfilled and.... . Only the horse, I would prefer a light style, more usefull for 1st and 2nd century.

Plastic (Celtic) chariots would be a nice addition - and re-working some of the metals, e.g. the javelinmen and slingers, I guess, though that sounds like sour grapes - but they don't stand comparison with the newest castings (e.g. the linebreakers, or some of the newer Roman castings). But I'll second mikeland's comments about the interchangeable heads ... please!
