Are Anglo-Saxons really that dissimilar from later Germanic tribes? Particularly considering that they are, technically, a later Germanic tribe?
Pardon me, Julius! Here wast thou bay'd, brave hart;
Here didst thou fall; and here thy hunters stand,
Sign'd in thy spoil, and crimson'd in thy lethe.

Yes you could use the Gripping Beast plastic Saxons but you will need models without armour to make it a more realistic representation as only the select few had armour. Gripping beast have some nice metal Germanic figures without armour and Musketeer miniatures have a very nice range :) I think gripping beast are going to do non armoured versions of the Vikings and Saxons but dont think it will be this year :(

Once you get them running, you can stay on top of them, and that way a small force can defeat a large one every time

Don't 'the other plastic company beginning with W' do unarmoured plastic Saxons?

I have designs on the GB ones for some generic local bowmen/levy/call 'em what you will in a Stephen/Matilda-era campaign.

Thanks to all of you .
the trouble with the sugested models is that you have to have al kinds of set just to get apropriate figures.
I was look to the period between 350-600 ad , and I was hoping that warlord games could do one or two sets on this one.
and even if it is'nt released for another year and a half, I would be very happy .
