Reinforcements

Postby Paul @ Warlord Games » Sun May 09, 2010 11:47 am

Thought I'd share something I mentioned on our Warlord Games Facebook page - new Romans...

As you know we have Roman civilians on the way very soon. 5 of the 6 models are with us and being mastered - one more to arrive. One of the sculpts - an amputee Veteran begging for alms can be seen on the Facebook page.

We have conversions on the Roman Cavalry with the slightly later variant cavalry helmet and arms with spear. New Decurion too. Shouldn't be long before they are up for release.

We also have something a bit special for you too. All being well we'll show that off in the next newsletter in a couple of weeks.

And yes, we still have plenty more planned for the Romans...

Cheers,

Paul

No plan to do this as they are attached to Roman arms...

Hallaluya at last new releases from warlords i cant wait!!! The new roman cav will be most welcome for My DBA army, any chance of a new Roman General that would be great. As i have finished my Celtic horde and nearlly completed my Roman army i would love to see another Ancients project from Warlords, fingers crossed.

Once you get them running, you can stay on top of them, and that way a small force can defeat a large one every time

new cavalry then? thats great! the way it sounded to me when i read your post was that there would be new cavalry spears and heads to convert the current auxiliary cavalry.

No, we've taken the existing cavalry torsos and had them converted with new heads/helmets.

The arms are holding the spears and are all new. When we release them it will aeffectively give us four Roman cavalry sets via Mail Order:

  • Early pattern helemet with swords
  • Early pattern helmet with spears
  • Later pattern helmet with swords
  • Later pattern helmet with spears

All the above are entirely suitable for Imperial Romans

Whilst we are on topic, I have a question. For Caesar's Gallic legions, the current WG legionnaries are not really appropiate, so I thought I would use Auxiallry from WG with rectangular Shields and pilum (from the accesories bit of the webstore). How does this sound to people?

the warlord auxilia make ideal gaulic legionaires, with the hamata and earlier republic style helm, a little greenstuff on the helms to add the horsehair plumes would be more accurate. as far as shields are concerned, i believe legionaires of julius caesars time (pre imperial rome) would have had the large oval shaped shield.
