A few questions on the range...

Postby Deathwatch05 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:14 am

Hello,

I'm new here and I was wondering; who sculpts the Ancient British models? Is it the Perry twins?

A few more questions, too:

1. What gaming system do you use to play with these models?

2. What kind of wear-and-tear resistance can we expect from them?

Thank you!

A few questions on the range...

It's not the Perry twins but they are on that level and the style is very similar - being non heroic true scale. Absolutely cracking sculpts, some of the best around for any range and company and I'm not just saying that because I'm logged in here. The metal parts are wonderful to look at and use.

As for wear and tear mine are holding up nicely, as fresh as the day they were painted. Paul has stated on here that they're molded in the same hard plastic that GW uses and having handled and used them I can't see any difference at all.

I personally have based mine up on 25mm 'slotta-style' square bases by a company called Gateshead Gaming and I play Warhammer Ancient Battles with them against the rather excellent Warlord Imperial Romans.

I agree with everything Parus has said . The celts themselves have many uses and can generally ally with most ancients armies. I have them in my Carthaginian army but they can also be used in the opposition Roman army as well! You can also use the celts in battles aginst each other because this is what they actually did! In all I think they are the most versatile boxed set of minis on the market and at a great price too. I too will be using them for Warhammer Ancients and waiting for the new version 2 coming out but thats another story!!Wink

Get the Garman tribesmen version of the box, a little bit of green stuff, a razor saw and the Rohan infantry boxed set and you have Wild Men of Dunland for LotR/WotR as well.

Briton Celt heads are also excellent, they look far more crackers than the heads on the GW Empire Fanatics as well.

I use the LOTR rules for skirmishes and WOTR rules for large battles, meaning I get bost of both worlds and one basing method, you can check out the rules here: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/LOTRvariants/

As for durability you can't beat hard plastic figures as even after dropping, paint will not chip off and nothing has broken yet either.

i use the warhammer ancient battle rules. before my discovery of warlord and historical wargaming i was a sworn gw loyalist, so learning the wab rules was a no brainer!
