They look great. I like Falx.

BTW, whats the deal with the Sarmatians?

Dacians

Postby 14th Brooklyn » Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:16 am

To be honest... they are a bit like what I feard... they look too much like the Celts for my taste. A completely new sprue would have done wonders here IMHO.

Sorry,

Burkhard

Dacians

Postby Phil » Sat Jun 20, 2009 11:14 am

Well, I held them in my grubby paw today, and had a really good look at them. I thought they appeared surprisingly different to the Celts or Britons - yes, the poses of most of the figures are the same, but the extra metal torsos, replacement heads, etc, do make a huge difference.

Dacians

I had the same fear as well. and unfortunately they do look like Celts but with Falxes. I was hoping they would have done a whole new plastic box for them because they should've had different sprues. The ECW storming party looks awesome though.

Not even brand new sprues were needed, a recut sprue such as the Veterans or Praetorians are from the Legionary sprue would have been great. The bodies look too much like the Celts… at least they aren't as similar as the Celts and Britons are!
I don't want to be too harsh in criticism, but Wargames Factory are bringing everything out in plastic, full stop. Surely a core unit such as Dacian Warriors should be plastic?

Actually, after a bit of thought I'll reserve judgement until seeing the entire range of Dacians. There may be enough distinctive metal units to make the army clearly 'Dacian' rather than Celtic... and of course the Sarmatians! Cool
