Cavalry Frontage

Postby Aspie » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:04 pm

Sorry if this has been asked, but what are people using as the 'standard' frontage for cavalry units in 28 mm?

I use 150mm. 12 figures to a unit in two ranks.

I personally use 6 stands with 2 horse per stand at 40mm per stand for 240mm.

Many use 25mm per horse, and put 10 horse across for 250mm.

I believe both are common.

Mine are based the same as yours, Grant, but I tend to use 12 figures in two ranks for a standard unit, 6 for a small and 16 to 18 for a large.

We use a hybrid of what Al and Grant are doing ...

12 man units in two ranks (for standard sized) - 2 figs on a 40x50mm base

120mm frontage
.. I think that the poorest he that is in England hath a life to live, as the greatest he; ... and I do think that the poorest man in England is not bound in a strict sense to that government that he hath not had a voice to put himself under

We use indivisually based cavalry figures(in 12 fig units) and deploy them on table in 1or 2 ranks as required... have also recently allowed our cavalry to form attack column formation too. this was used see Murat at Liebertolkwitz esp if terrain or cavalry quality was poor
