Just starting Napoleonic era gaming....

Postby Sam91 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 7:40 pm

Hello guys,
I decided to start collecting Napoleonic forces, and chose Black Powder, as some of you may know I bought Hail Ceasar (the Romans for which are on hold due to lack of players to face) anyway, being impressed with one Warlord rulebook I gunned for another.
I have 54mm Victrix for Sharp Practice skirmish games (my blog http://www.samthegiantsblog.blogspot.com has pictures of progress for that), but I am planning to use Perry Miniatures 28mm for larger games.
I will hopefully be able to stick pictures up as time goes on (which is something I failed to do for the Romans, but that's another story).
Anyways, comments etc etc would be welcome.

I did a sort of reverse - I played BP first, thoroughly enjoyed it - still do - so went ahead and got a copy of HC. I've yet to play a HC game, but plan on using it for a Chariot Wars era game. Figure the sweeping moves would replicate chariot warfare a bit. Good luck on your 28mm armies. Dean

Got some 28mm miniatures from Firestorm Games in Cardiff yesterday (Two sides being collected here before anyone asks why I have a random box of French mixed in).
- A 9 Pounder Cannon with crew from Perry Miniatures
- 60 British Highlanders from Victrix
- 20 French Dragoons from Perry Miniatures
The Cannon and 3 French Dragoons on foot and 1 mounted are assembled (I have yet to take pictures of progress).
Hopefully a book called The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Napoleonic Uniforms will arrived along with a further 40 British Line Infantry from Perry Miniatures will arrive on Monday.

You can't beat having armies for both sides of Naps :D

I bought the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Napoleonic Uniforms recently and it arrived today along with a unit of Perry Miniatures Nepoleonic Line Infantry. Inside the book I discovered a regiment I had never heard of, the 36th Regiment of Foot - The Herefordshire regiment, my home county. So I have decided my first unit was to be this regiment, and then further researching upon the internet has discovered they also fought in the Penisular War, the right area for my Napoleonic Wargaming.
