Number of figures and how closely they are spaced is irrelevant to BP. So just go with what looks right to you.
I have Spencer Smith figures based at six to a 40mm square base for The War Game. These are done in units of 48 rank and file plus 5 officers. When using them for BP I make one War Game unit into two BP Standard units with 24 figures on four bases. With BP the only thing that matters is that the frontages are consistent.
Thanks Alan. I am aware of the freedom of BP I just wondered what the convention was/how people were basing if just starting with 7YW under BP?
I base my AWI Americans on 24s (4 bases of 6 each 45mm x 40mm). 4 bases is probably best for Napoleonic for forming squares. It's just that with 4 bases the command base is off centre. Not sure if I am bothered about this or not
