Anglo Zulu War Supplement for Black Powder

Postby PSADennis » Sun Dec 04, 2011 9:10 pm

Any chance the good folks at Warlord games have given this idea a thought?
I have my fingers crossed.

Small war. I would have thought the rules as they stand would do.

I agree they rules will work. That wasn't my point. I was thinking more as additional insperation to buy all those great new miniatures that are coming out.

I'd be tempted to get the film and a good history of the conflict myself - i know the draw of the eye candy in the WL books, but i reckon a good history of the whole thing would be better!

Well I have the film, both in fact. And my collection has many Ian Knight books in it. As they say here out west this isnt my first rodeo. The White Dwarf sells GW a lot of miniatures. Something that had some scenario ideas, painting tips and terrain building ideas might just be a good idea.
I guess its just the sales guy coming out in me.

Perhaps WG will do a colonials supplement, covering the whole 'scramble for Africa' and the like, period. AZW, 2nd Boar War, 2nd Anglo-afghan war, First Italo-Ethiopian War etc. ?

Yep there was a firm that used to do wargamers guides to various wars; the battles, organisation, tactics and painting guides. We all swore by them back in the day. I agree it is a shame that something like that is no longer available.

I agree. Generic guides with a battlefield map, terrain notes, reasonably accurate figures for numbers involved and estimated armament, would be a boon to wargamers everywhere. Number of figures can be scaled, rules for a set applied. Just need good starting details! I am trying to do this for the Sudan now, just for my own interest sake and hopefully apply the exercise to Black Powder.

A supplement for the AZW is well under way - we hope to have a manuscript soon.
Cheers,
