Big Al wrote:One little thing that has just come to my attention (and you can thank CanadaSteve's "Website Deals" thread for this) is that once you have clicked on an item in the LHS column and then move on, the web link disappears from the column. By this I mean that the item changes colour from red to black and it is no longer underlined. The only way to get back to that page is to click the "Back" arrow on your browser, which can be a right pain if you have viewed a number of items and want to go back to the first item. The things you have already viewed show up elsewhere on the screen, but not as links. Either I've missed something and doing it wrong or it needs correcting so that the link remains.

Hi Big Al,
I'm not 100% clear what you mean so please correct me if I am wrong however if you are referring to using the filter menu available in the left hand sidebar each link returns product that are in that group building a dynamic page with the aim being for you to select and view only the products you require in that particular category.

For example you can select one, two, three etc. choices which should give you those products you have selected filtering out everything else, plus if you want to change your selections you can remove them and change your choices by clicking on the cross (close link) associated with each choice at the top of the filter column returning that selection to the filter menu, activating it again. There should be no reason to use your back button unless this functionality isn't working for you and that's a different issue :)

Please let me know if that helps and has answered your issue?

Right. I clicked on Black Powder and Napoleonic Wars. I then clicked on Flags, first item on the left. Then, I clicked on French Command. I could not then click on Flags again because the weblink had gone. I had to use the back button on my browser to get to the weblink. The category was still there, but it had changed colour to black text and no underline, so nothing happened when I clicked on Flags again. If I have a shopping list, it isn't a problem because I just go to the section and choose what I want and move on. However, if I am just browsing, I can't go and click on a category I have just viewed because the link has gone. I have to use my browser back button or click the Webstore button and go into it all from scratch. Below is a Screenshot. Hope it helps.

I think it helps, when you click on French Command, Flags are still selected that is why you can't click on the link again - are you trying to get French Command Flags if so that isn't an option as the flags link contains all the flags?

I have quickly scribbled on your attachement in photoshop circling where you clear filter selections please have a go at clearing them here to see if it will work how you expect it to.

If not please come back to me

Hi

If I click the cross, as you say, the link comes back. However, another thing that I have just noticed and I admit that I might just be being thick here, is that if I click on Flags, they come up in the main window. If I then click on French Command, the Flags are still displayed in the window and not the French command. They only come up when I click the cross next to flags in the filter. This is not a problem if I right click the link and open the section in a new tab or window, but it is if I just click the link. I don't believe that it should be that difficult. Like I said, I might be doing it wrong, but at least it gets it sorted out one way or the other. :D

Hiya,
I think the issue is me not explaining the idea behind the left hand filter menu clearly as you are right, if you click on Flags and then on French Command the Flags will be in the window first followed by the French Command this is because the menu is a filter not links to other pages. The idea is when you first go to the Napoleonic Wars section in Black Powder (or any of the others) you are presented with absolutely everything that is in that category, you then use the filters on the left to get rid of anything you dont want to see so for example if I want to see the French I would select all of them - French Command, French Infantry and French Cavalry which would then be displayed in the window.

With it set up in this way you can browse everything for that army in one go or a single troop type or any other combination that takes your fancy which becomes very useful if you change the 'show per page' from 12 to All. I do hope browsing in the is way doesn't make it too difficult I know it is different to how a lot of sites do it but the idea was to make it so you could see everything of interest to you in a single window and easily change your selection by swapping the choices in the filter.

Right, I see now. It only came up because I was looking at the thing that Canadasteve mentioned in another thread and when I tried to look at something else, it didn't seem to work. At least, not the way I expected. That said, if I had the problem, it is quite possible that others did too, so this will have served a good purpose anyway. :)

Thanks for taking the time to explain. :D

Reinforcements are a massive undertaking to add to the store so we launched the new store without them rather than wait.

Don't worry - they'll start to return gradually, starting next week.
Cheers,

Paul Sawyer

I would like to add that the new forum now has a mobile function apparently. Interesting - but on my iPhone I go full webversion.
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?
