Plastic Cossack Infantry

Postby Thaddeus » Tue May 08, 2012 7:13 am

Here are the first of many Cossack infantry I will be assembling for my 1651 Cossack Rebellion army. They aren't really even a kitbash; except for the helmeted head and some greenstuff, these guys are all constructed from the same plastic kit. I'm sure it would be pretty easy for one of you to guess which kit, right?

Yup. Fortunately, in addition to being a good fit for the Cossacks, the Zouave box is one of the cheapest around, per model. And it comes with a bunch of extra heads and arms, which will be handy for my Hungarian-style Polish infantry (aka Haiduks).

Nicely done... Would the warlord plastic arms from the Pike and Shotte fire locks go on these?

I don't have any ECW plastics on hand at the moment, but I can't imagine there would be any problem. It's the same type of join (flat vertical surface) and I'm sure the torsos of the two kits are the same width, or close enough as makes no difference.

I've got a WiP shot of my next batch, the arm joins are visible for a few of the guys if you want to try to judge for yourself...

Great green stuff work.

Making me think about doing some Cossacks myself.

I heartily recommend it, I've been having a blast with these guys. The greenstuff work required is pretty basic, although you will have to do a good bit of filing and trimming before you can get to sculpting.

My first Pike & Shotte unit, done except for basing:
