SAGA Dice

Postby Cubster » Sun May 06, 2012 11:42 am

This was a fun distraction to be fiddling about with while other things dried. I decided to pimp up the download sheet for the SAGA Viking dice to give the characters a verdigris bronze type thingy, adding a few cracked surfaces like old ivory or bone, with paint and ink.

In hindsight, I think I could've used my Caran d'Ache pencils to get the same (or better) effect a lot quicker and easier, but you live and learn. The paper has been given three coats of varnish and one of PVA to protect it against the rigours of being thrown about once a year.

I had a nightmare when I put the sheet down on my desk and didn't notice a small water drop, that immediately made the printing ink bleed across two faces, so they needed to be completely redone.

The symbols are a free download from the Gripping Beast site, that our Swede Dal has available on his forum http://www.stockholmwargaming.se/plank/. I swiped them off there and have them saved as a word document, so drop me a line if you don't fancy signing up to Dal's site and want me to email them across - the sheet has all the Saxon, Viking, Norman and Welsh symbols for 8 dice. You just cut them out and glue them onto blank dice from http://www.blankdice.co.uk/.

Would printing them onto transfer paper work?

Those dice look great.

For the life of me, I have no idea why Gripping Beast can't keep them in stock. They have a product that many people want but they sell out in mere seconds. Just a thought guys - bring in MORE than last time!

I would seriously order two Warbands with dice and the two books - but want the fancy dice. I like trinkets.

Have you tried North Star? They had them in stock last time I checked.
