Swedish TYW troops

Postby Tilioch » Sun Sep 04, 2011 7:11 pm

Hello all

I've been painting a few units of Swedish TYW troops on and off for the last half a year or so, and to be honest it's mostly been off ;)

But I've got some painting done the last few weeks after inspiration found me after a visit to the swedish military museum, so I got my minis out of the box where I'd hide them.

For now I've based them to match Field of Glory Renaissance, I don't really think I'm going to play that, but at least it's something to follow until a Black Powder suppliment/rule book tells me otherwise =)

And the painted units has massed right now to one unit of cavalry, kind of modified to be sporting some carbines instead of lots of pistols (a unit with that is coming any year now, you'll see!) and three units of infantry.

First the cavalry, notice that I haven't done the bases here and no flags on any unit so far.

And the green regiment, inspired by one of the flags in the swedish box, the Västgöta Regiment (thats where I'm from so)

There are a few more pictures on each unit on my little blogg

Hope this inspires someone, or at least dont make you loose your lunch =)

Until I get something else done, hug each other by the paintstation

Very inspiring! I need to get started on my own Thirty Years' War stuff, so this is a great post. :D

Really nice... And I always find mid 17th century minis inspiring... I have been spending too much time lately in AD43 and 1917.... Time to get back to good old 1640's!

Sweet! I really should start with that period too someday, perhaps some Warlord related rules would help...

Lovely use of washes there, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the nice comments

I'm now in the process of getting some flags on the already completed units, and setting up my next unit of cavalry, if time is good to me I might have another unit done during the weekend.

Yay for dipp!

I got my second unit of cavalry finished tonight with just a few hours of painting spread over the last week, they now stand painted (although without bases...)

A few lines about them and another dark and out of focused image can be found on my blogg
